International Rome Film Festival at MAXXI

The collaboration between MAXXI and the International Rome Film Festival continues to be reinforced.
Among the many joint initiatives being staged by Rome’s two cultural institutions are the screening of short films and documentaries on contemporarty artists included in the festival’s L’Altro Cinema | Extra section and the inclusion of the exhibition The Otolith Group. Thoughtform in the Risonanze section. The Focus of the VI edition of the festival is in fact training the spotlight on the United Kingdom, where the collective’s two artists, Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun, live and work.

ART AND ARCHITECTURE VIDEOS MARATHON
Teatro Studio Auditorium Parco della Musica, Rome – admittance € 7
The Altro Cinema | Extra section is presenting an evening dedicated to contemporary art, the fruit of the recent partnership between MAXXI and CortoArteCircuito, a non-profit cultural association.
The public will also be presented with a selection of previously unseen films devoted to contemporary art, from video art to the most recent research into the relationship between art and film. In addition, the latest short film produced on the occasion of the installation of the exhibition Indian Highway will receive its first screening.

Thursday 3 November
THE TEL AVIV UNIVERSITY FILM SCHOOL
MAXXI Auditorium
Tel Aviv University (TAU) together with the association “Friends of Tel Aviv University”, will be presenting a series of short films made by the students from its Department of Film and Television. The TAU has trained directors such as Ari Folman (Waltz with Bashir) and Yaron Shani, (co-director of Ajami), Eytan Fox (Walk On Water, The Bubble), making a significant contribution to the development of the Israeli film and television industry.
The five selected shorts will be screened during the encounter that will also feature the prize-giving ceremony. The students will therefore have the opportunity of showing their work to an international audience and will receive a bursary as a prize.

VIDEOART MARATHON
MAXXI Audtorium – admittance € 4
MAXXI is hosting a marathon screening devoted to videos, documentaries and short films on contemporary art. The evening will present a repeat of the 3 November programme, enriched with further films drawn from the MAXXI B.A.S.E. video archive dealing with the artists in the museum’s collection or featured in its exhibition programme.

holders of a festival ticket or accreditation will have the opportunity of visiting MAXXI at a reduced price from 27 October to 5 November 2011.
Holders of a MAXXI entrance ticket will be offered a 15% discount on the face value of festival tickets from the day they go on sale (14 October), exclusively from the Auditorium Parco della Musica’s central ticket office in Viale P. de Coubertin.
