FREE ENTRANCE TO MAXXI TO CELEBRATE TWO YEARS OF THE LISBON TREATY

The European Union is inviting you to MAXXI. In order to celebrate the second anniversary of the signing of the Lisbon Treaty, the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Department for European Policies (Presidency of the Council of Ministers), together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Fondazione MAXXI are promoting free admittance to MAXXI from 11.00 to 22.00 (last entrance at 21.00) on Thursday 1 December 2011.

Tutti MAXXI per l’Europe (All at MAXXI for Europe) intends to combine art with an historical event for the European Union and stimulate reflection on Europe. The Lisbon Treaty, which came into force on 1 December 2009, equips the Union with modern institutions and working methods allowing it to respond effectively and efficiently to the challenges of today’s world.

On the occasion of the extraordinary and free opening to the public on 1 December, MAXXI will be hosting the photographic exhibition Italy in Europe – Europe in Italy. A history of European integration in 250 shots, with 250 photographs illustrating key episodes of European integration from the Cold War to the present.

A “Eurocorner” information desk will be set up in the museum to provide information and documentation regarding Europe.
