The “Incontri Internazionali d’Arte” archive and library are added to the MAXXI collection

100,000 documents and 8,000 books of inestimable value and the projects for the “Roma Interotta” exhibition (1978) representing 40 avant-garde years that have revolutionised art and culture in Italy are joining MAXXI. Thanks to the generous donation by Gabriella Buontempo, granddaughter of the founder Graziella Lonardi Buontempo who passed away in 2010, the Archive and the Library of the celebrated cultural association Incontri Internazionali d’Arte have been added to the MAXXI Arte and MAXXI Architettura collection.

Auteur photographs, publications, drawings, projects, correspondence, invitations and videos, for a total of around 100,000 documents and 8,000 books that will be consultable at MAXXI B.A.S.E., the museum’s study centre.

    The international collectors, gallerists and art lovers in London for Frieze, the International Contemporary Art Fair, will be introduced to the extraordinary legacy of the donation of the archive and library of the Incontri Internazionali d’Arte. Anna Mattirolo, director of MAXXI Arte and Achille Bonito Oliva will be participating.
