Art and architecture workshop
What does it involve?
A workshop to introduce children of up to 36 months to contemporary art, facilitating the inclusion of children with impaired vision. After an exploration of MAXXI’s fluid space, tactile, audio and visual clues will help the children and their parents find out how the artist Giuseppe Penone has recreated the marvels of nature in the artificial museum space.
During the workshop, adults and children alike will create a tactile book with the shapes of objects, animals and characters in many different materials.

MINI-MAXXI. ZAHA HADID’S GIANT FOR THE LITTLE ONES
Architecture workshop
What does it involve?
The architecture and the spatial qualities of Zaha Hadid’s design play a key role in the youngest children’s experience of the museum. In its extensive and complex spaces, this gentle giant offers a unique and enthralling sensorial experience. During the exploratory visit the children will discover the space through corporeal exercises and performative activities and then in the hands-on workshop, the young architects will reinterpret it through drawing.

GIVING FORM TO LIGHT
Workshop on the exhibition Projections. Installations from the MAXXI Arte Collections
What does it involve?
Unusual environments in which light and colour give form to space, images in movement, enveloping shells: the children immerse themselves in an extraordinary cognitive and emotive experience. From sculpture to installation, from environments to video, how do artists design space with light? The children find out by interacting with the works on show during an exploratory visit and while experimenting in the dark how an artwork rises with lights and drawings.

MAXXI IN ACTION. LINE, PROJECT, SPACE
Architecture workshop
What does it involve?
Amidst concrete curves and steel bands, the children discover the museum’s architecture in an enthralling sensorial and corporeal experience.
The MAXXI project is compared with the proposals of the MAXXI design competition finalists: using tracing paper and chalks, the children will discover the fluid and dynamic lines of Zaha Hadid. Through to April the workshop will be enriched with a visit to the exhibition Models/Modelli featuring 80 models including those from the MAXXI design competition.

ACTION/INSTALLATION Experiencing space
Exploratory visit to the art collection
What does it involve?
From sculpture to installation, from drawing to video, contemporary artists choose diversified linguistic strategies to speak of our time. What relationship is there between the materials, the techniques and the forms chosen by the artist and the meaning of the work? In what way does every installation relate to MAXXI’s fluid space? How does the spectator interact with it? Starting out with the works themselves, the students discover and experience at first hand the installation practices in the museum’s galleries.
