Food, beverages and handwriting
become the necessary ingredients for experiencing life
through the energy of art
The time of aggregation and sociality is explored in the special project Social Participation and Calligraphy Experiment, presented by the Yangjiang Group within the ambit of the exhibition Food dal cucchaio al mondo. The Chinese collective, formed in 2002 and composed of Zheng Guogu, Chen Zaiyan and Sun Qinglin, has for years been developing projects that uniquely and at times provocatively combine the relationship between art and food, the imagination and elements drawn from everyday life.
At MAXXI the group will be transforming the gallery from a stage for the public into an exhibition space composed of calligraphic painting and wax sculptures. The public is invited to take part in the creative process of the project through three performances. Social Participation and Calligraphy Experiment is thus presented as the result of three workshops held on 16, 17 and 18 July.
