MAXXI B.A.S.E. – Library, Archive, Research, Publishing is the museum’s research centre.
Conceived as a proactive, dynamic structure, a true research workshop, it will provide the public with advanced tools and instruments for extending their knowledge, researching and comprehending the contemporary artistic phenomena.
MAXXI B.A.S.E.’s objective is, in fact, that of collecting, conserving, creating and diffusing knowledge and the culture of contemporary art and architecture, their history, theory, practice and role in today’s society. Moreover, it documents all the museum’s activities, from the exhibitions to the events and the scholarly activities directly associated with the study of the permanent collections.

The MAXXI Research web channel is the means of access to the computerised system created to handle MAXXI B.A.S.E.’s documentary and artistic contents and permit the consultation of the entire system of catalogues and digital materials available to date.
