Pietroiusti, Cesare

Cesare Pietroiusti is an artist and teacher at the IUAV, University of Venice.
From 1977 he has showed in several private and public spaces, institutional and non institutional, in Italy and abroad. In the last years his work focuses on the ideas of exchange and paradoxes that can take place in the folds of the social system, and in economical orders. In 2007 he founded, in collaboration with the collective Space of Bratislava, Evolution de l’Art, the first contemporary art gallery, which deals only immaterial artworks. Pietroiusti obtained a Degree in Medical School with a dissertation on Clinic Psychiatry, was co-funder of the Research Centre Jartrakor, Rome, 1977, and of the «Rivista di Psicologia dell’Arte». From 1997 until 2000 he was one of the coordinators of the residency “Oreste” (Paliano and Montescaglioso), of the project Oreste alla Biennale (50a Biennale di Venezia, 1999), and of the symposium Come spiegare a mia madre che ciò che faccio serve a qualcosa? (How can I explain to my mother that what I do is useful?, Link, Bologna 1997). In 2000 he co-funded the project Nomads & Residents. He is part of the curatorial team of the Corso Superiore di Arti Visive, Ratti Foundation, Como.
